Brunch in New York

A selection of the best brunches in NYC

Fruits, nutella and toasts...

Rating: ★★★★½

We found it ! A nice place to brunch without any tourists. Penelope is a tiny New Yorker oasis in the heart of Murray Hill.

Very discreet, this place is “the” spot of the neighborhood. On the weekends, you might have to wait 40 minutes to have a seat. It’s the only negative point (along with the cash only policy) but coffee is offered while you wait. Prices are more than reasonable : 14$ prix fixe with Apple Cider Mimosa or coffee/tea and orange juice.

The interior is a cozy atmosphere with “country cottage” decor. The service is attentive even though the staff is always busy. The menu offers home-style cooking with a lot of selection: Nutella french toast with fresh fruit, pumpkin waffles, and a variety of muffins, scones, and pastries.

If you prefer savoury food, try the salmon wrapped poached eggs, the big farmer’s market omelette with french fries or the Elli’s spinach pie with greens.

Trust us: Try this place once and it will become an instant favorite !
