Jane is Soho’s New American staple, and a solid choice for brunch if you plan to spend your Sunday shopping in the neighborhood.
Because of the size of the dining room, there is rarely too long of a wait – and even if there is, you won’t be waiting on the sidewalk.
Complimentary cocktails are the quickest way to our hearts, but they are only served with brunch menu items – not lunch dishes. Choose from a Bloody Mary, Raspberry Champagne Cocktail, White Peach Bellini, Mimosa Cosmopolitan, or Fresh Squeezed Juice.
Among the brunch dishes, we recommend the Benedict Jane ($16): poached eggs, crab and crawfish cakes, spinach and tarragon hollandaise, or the Vanilla Bean French Toast ($15) made with brioche bread, crème brulee batter, and Vermont maple syrup – but only for the very sweet tooth. If you’re hungry for lunch, the Jane Burger ($14) has a reputation as one of the best in town – it’s certainly one of the biggest; served with special sauce, cheddar, double smoked bacon, and fries. The BLT &E ($12) is crispy, salty and sophisticated with a sunny side up egg, bibb lettuce, bacon, tomato, lemon aioli and fries, but we think it should be a brunch item.
It can take a few visits to Jane to hit a stride and know exactly what to order to optimize your experience. The hit-or-miss service can make or break your experience – the staff seems to be evenly mixed between veteran servers and recent hires. Overall, Jane’s brunch is a no-fuss option that will make New Yorkers feel right at home and visitors feel like New Yorkers.
