Brunch in New York

A selection of the best brunches in NYC

Rating: ★★★★☆

Just a few meters from the noisy St Mark’s Place, welcome to a cosy place to brunch in a sumptuous garden. One of the most beautiful in the city ! On a sunny day, impossible to resist to a table in this perfectly arranged patio with paving stones, a little fountain, abounding vegetation on wall and above you. It’s gorgeous and lovely.

Inside, it’s not bad either. When you penetrate in the main dining room, you also understand why the restaurant is called The Cloister Cafe. Its stained glass windows procure a real sensation of peace… You don’t have other options : you just fall in love with the place.

What about the food now ? The brunch is a prix-fixe menu with, including orange juice or bloody mary and delicious coffee or tea. Problem : no price indicated but we’ll speak about it. The choice of dishes is extremely large and interesting : more than five kinds of eggs, fajitas, burgers, fish and chips, pastas, salads, etc… You can find a lot of things and it’s quite tasty !

We liked the “quiche du jour” served with potatoes and salad and the smoked salmon on english muffins with scrambled eggs and potatoes. As we said, with no price on the menu, we took the risk to order without knowing the consequences… The surprise was good with a bill around only 25$ for two people. And we don’t forget the staff, very welcoming and efficient. A typical place of the East Side which including everything ! The Cloister is definitely a real deal !
